Race to the Shower: The Rules
RACE TO THE SHOWER RULES
My bridal shower is at the end of July, about 16 weeks away. If I can lose 1 lb. a week leading up to that date, I will be about 15 lbs. lighter than I am now. I think that's a really reasonable (yet still challenging) medium sized goal. I am setting that goal right.....NOW!
Wanna join me? Contact me via a comment or email to join the challenge! I'll add a link to your blog/website at the top of my sidebar. I'd appreciate some linkie love or a shout out on your blog, but it's not required. I like to pay it forward. :-)
Here are The Rules:
- It will be on your honor.
- You can weigh in on whatever day you want, but you need to weigh in at least once a week.
- I'm logging the weight I've lost since 3/31/07, so I'll accept all weigh-ins after that date.
- Once you know your loss/gain, you can post to me in a comment or email it to me. Just let me know how many pounds you gained or lost THAT WEEK ONLY. I will add or subtract it from your current total.
- I will update your link in the sidebar to show your total loss and I'll reorder the links; top loser is at the top of the list. Racers who haven't reported their first weigh-in are listed at the bottom in the order that they joined the challenge.
- If you don't lose one week or if you even gain some, make sure you're still reporting it. Admitting your successes AND defeats in a public forum will keep you accountable and you will gain a sense of owning your destiny.
Join me in the Race to the Shower and I'll post your link at the top of my sidebar!
If you're just joining us later in the game, don't worry! You can join the challenge at any time! You just might have to work a little harder to catch up. But remember, in this race, even if you lose, you still win! Hardy har har!
**********************************
My major tactic to reach this goal: focus on stopping as soon as I'm full. I want to really listen to that voice in my head that says, "I'm full now" and actually STOP when I hear that voice. I will put in extra effort to portion out every meal; keeping the remaining leftovers in the other room, away from my wandering hands. I will try extra hard to box up leftovers before I even start eating my meal, whether I'm at a restaurant or in my own kitchen. And I will really focus on dishing out 1 to 2 scoops of food LESS than I desire. My eyes are twice as big as my stomach; remembering that will be key to my success.
I will also continue my exercise routine of 3 - 4 times a week; a mixture of elliptical machines & water conditioning classes. Another tactic I will add to the mix: try out a new exercise class at least once every 2 weeks.

Ok, I'm adding Sanni. Who are you anonymous? Do you want to be added to the list? Let me know! I'll just put "Anonymous" up there for now - if you want to tell me your real name I'll change it, or make up a fun pseudonym if you don't want to use your real name. It's all good!

Sweet! I see that I'm already up there. I'll have to weigh myself tomorrow morning, and I'll send you my official first weigh in.
I would love to be a "loser" in this race! can you add me?
Missy - each time I try to find your blog, it says Blogger is down for maintenance. Can you email me at julie at flipthisbody dot com to tell me your blog address?
Hey Julie!
Thanks for adding me - I´m glad to join! A load "WOW" fell out of my mouth when I looked at your sidebar... you go girl!
I´ve had my weigh in yesterday. It was not as worth as I thought (lots of Easter bunnies and other sins during the 4-days Easter weekend! *sigh*): I didn´t loose weight, but I didn´t gain, either. It´s still 132lb. *PHEW*
Best of luck to you and the others involved! I'm stuck on one of those plateaus and can't seem to get down.
Not sure whether this is a "woman's only" race, but if it is not, I'd like to throw my hat in the ring:

Started 3 weeks ago. Weigh in every Monday (next is tomorrow). At 3/31, my last official weigh in was 231 and my 4/2/07 weigh in was 226 for a nice big -5 lbs!
Don't worry though, I have been sneaking peaks throughout the week and my weight is holding steady at 226 :(
Anyways, I liked your site. You seem to have quite a thriving community here!
